The book was designed by Harry Carter, and the charming linoleum cuts printed at the Curwen Press. The music was printed from types of the seventeenth century. Bound in vegetable parchment and embossed with a diagonal pattern and fleuron devices, the book has a Yapp binding.

Known colloquially as Comus, the masque's actual full title is A Mask presented at Ludlow Castle, on Michelmas night, before the Rt Hon. Iohn Earl of Bridgewater, Viscount Brackly, Lord President of Wales, and one of His Maiesties most honorable privie councill.
